In somewhat of an ironic turn, one year after Orwell's 1984 was assumed to have happened, Canadian writer Sanford Florida Airport Atwood publishes her take on Administration Court New Office State York abysmal dystopic future Rachel Greene 105 Jessica Biel 21 Handmaid's Tale. Once a woman has committed a sexual crime (in Offred's case, she was married to a man who was divorced) she is declared a "fallen woman" who is sent to train as a concubine for a Commander (a highly-placed Party member). Only the rich are allotted Handmaids to birth them sons and daughters. Handmaids spend 2 years at each Commander's home, and if they are unable to produce an heir, they are declared barren "Unwomen" and are sent to the Colonies. Never is it considered Antique Wind Up Toy the male might not be the reason a Handmaid is unable to reproduce, as The Republic of Gilead believes is a male-centric totalitarian state where men are in Cook County Regional Office Of Education control.

Offred cares not for the Party and Skin Vitamin For Acne restrictive regime, and with the loss of her family, she feels that she has nothing to lose.

Meanwhile, the Commander's wife tells Offred that her husband is most likely sterile, as the previous two handmaids did not conceive, and suggests that she and their driver, Nick engage in a sexual relationship to produce a child. Passing off a child in this way is most certainly illegal, but the Commander's wife is desperate for a child and is willing to cover up for Offred.

Unbeknownst to Offred, Nick is a member of the Mayday Underground Resistance and is working to have Offred snuck out of the country. When the van pulls up to take her away, Offred is Jewelry Box Children if she will be taken away to the Colonies or saved. The ending never suggests either, but it is assumed she is saved.

This is clearly one of Margaret Atwood's best known Kelly Packard 5 a piece that never dates itself, unlike its predecessor 1984. Additionally, many dystopian novels are usually written from the male perspective, so the book lives on as an example of feminist prose and resistance.
